Built stronger than standard
Dayco manufactures its Powerbond harmonic balancer range in Australia and supplies it to the aftermarket worldwide. Coverage spans more than 450 engine types across US, European, Japanese, Korean, and Australian passenger cars, 4WDs, and light commercial vehicles, so there is a fitment for most performance builds that come through the workshop door.
The balancer’s job is to damp the torsional vibration the crankshaft generates with every firing pulse, and it works harder as engine output climbs. Every Powerbond unit is dynamically balanced during manufacture, and the bonded dampening rubber provides up to four times the strength of a standard OEM unit — eliminating component separation and keeping operation smooth under demanding conditions.
Street and Race Series
The Street Series is aimed at street performance engine builders — engines you can race, and engines you can drive. Construction is high-strength spheroidal graphite (SG) iron, with bonded rubber rated to 6,500rpm and permanently etched timing marks.
The Race Series is engineered for high-revving motorsport engines that require SFI 18.1 certification. It pairs a CNC-machined 1045 forged steel hub with a steel ring in an ultra-lightweight design, and adds positive ring retention and laser-etched timing marks.
Underdrive, overdrive, and pulley kits
For customers chasing horsepower and throttle response, Underdrive balancers use a lightweight all-steel design that reduces parasitic drag from engine auxiliaries such as the A/C compressor, alternator, and power steering pump. Overdrive balancers work the other way for supercharged engines demanding extra boost: diameter options 5% to 22% larger increase supercharger speed, an up to 8-rib serpentine drive maximises belt grip, and twin keyways provide secure crank mounting across a range of applications.
Power Pulley Kits complete the range as a vehicle-specific, all-in-one underdrive upgrade — a race-specification underdrive balancer, a full set of idler and tensioner pulleys, and premium Dayco Poly-V drive belts in a single kit, taking the guesswork out of matching components.
