Radiators, heater cores, water pumps, engine blocks and head gaskets can all be the source of a cooling system leak, and each carries a different repair cost, turnaround time and comeback risk.
How the seal forms
K-Seal is formulated with ceramic microfibres and copper particles that remain suspended in the coolant once added to the system. These particles circulate continuously until they reach the point of the leak, where they interlock to form a seal. Exposure to the heat and pressure of normal cooling system operation then cures the repair, allowing it to withstand ongoing use.
Tested to a known standard
Independent testing to the ASTM D3147 standard has shown K-Seal can seal holes up to 0.635mm in diameter and cracks measuring up to 0.254mm wide by 12.7mm long. The same testing confirmed the particle size is fine enough to pass through radiator and heater core passages without causing blockages — an important distinction for technicians wary of sealant products clogging narrow-bore components.
Fitting the range to the job
K-Seal is available in three formulations. K-Seal Original covers a broad range of leaks, including radiators, heater cores, water pumps, engine blocks and many head gasket applications. K-Seal Ultimate is built for more demanding head gasket and porous engine block repairs. K-Seal HD is designed for the larger cooling systems found in commercial vehicles, agricultural equipment, heavy machinery and fleet applications.
Application is straightforward regardless of formulation. K-Seal is compatible with all antifreeze and coolant types, and requires no draining or flushing beforehand — the bottle is shaken, added to the system, and the engine run to operating temperature. Once the repair has taken hold, K-Seal can remain in the system or be replaced at the next scheduled coolant service.
